I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with magic sigils (and alchemy, for that matter) to figure out what needs to be adjusted :). Could you give examples of sigils that are too scientific and sigils that are mystical enough?
Sigil Generator
While I love this for random sigil generations. I would love to see this updated to be used with proper sigil generation. something that allows you to put the intent in then shows the breakdown and then display choices of different sigils that could be made with the intent. this would help many neopagans and Wiccans who are new to sigiles as well as others. If you dont know how sigils are made in the witchy world i'm happy to send you a basic guide.
There are a few methods of sigil creation but most of them have what's called an intent. Intent is in very simple words the desire that lead you to create a sigil. A few notable methods are using a pattern such as a magic square or witch circle to create a path, combining symbols (what this gen does) and chaos magic where you would use a fountain pen or similar writting device where the resulting symbol isn't really methodic and the "style" matters as it's a result of your intent.
The way i would implement this into a program is probably adding an option to force exclusion/inclusion from symbols and grouping symbols into themes and motiffs that can overlap, such as nature, change, etc. that way you choose one or more themes and the sigil is composed from symbols in that category
Really feel the style of Sigils from The Lesser Key of Solomon and some other old alchemical books. Pretty great for a quick grag of a symbol, or as i do, take some, and re-edit them on photoshop with my digital tablet, to give a more "Handwritten" feel.Pretty good generator!
"Like all magickal square is the result of arithmetic progression, I decided to create a magickal square of 2323 based on the maximum goddess number of discordianism, it has been. Since every Kamea is a planetary magical square, attributes the tool to the astro 136199 Éris for the creation of sigils based on the astrological force of Éris." - Victor Vieira
The Sigil Engine translates your intentions into sigils, graphical symbols used in magick and other occult practices to help achieve a desired outcome. Artists Darragh Mason and David Tidman created the site as an exploration of "technomancy," the use of technology for magickal purposes. I got a kick out of their FAQ that includes such queries as:
Eventually we plan to project them on to well known landmarks to hypercharge them. We collect the intentions and data points that make up the sigils. We do not collect any personal identifying information at all.
Sigil uses Qt as its application framework and embeds WebKit to renderHTML book contents. However, the Linux downloads are InstallJammer installers ratherthan standard RPM or Debian packages, and they bundle their own copy of thenecessary .so files, placing everything in /opt/sigil/.Presumably this installation choice is the result of structuring the codeto produce cross-platform packages for those OSes that cannot simply fetchthe necessary dependencies through their package managers. As a result ofthat choice, though, the installer weighs in at 20.5MB and you end up with someduplicate libraries. Hopefully distributions will eventually startpackaging Sigil themselves to avoid that duplication.
Changes you make to the CSS files are instantly picked up in therendered HTML view, which is essential. What seems to be missing, however,is an interface to work with the other structural elements, starting withelement ID attributes. Sigil's TOC generator creates these automaticallywhen creating the TOC and inserts them into the text. Element IDsare the preferred method for linking to content within a page(replacing older anchor tags), but Sigil assigns them automatically, usinga mnemonically unfriendly number scheme. It would be helpful to allow some control over this process, particularly for those working on very long texts.
